The following is a brief capitulation of what our Church believes. This is not to be considered a replacement of the Ancient and universally accepted Creeds or the 39 Articles of the Church of England. This is intended to be a short introduction to our Church and denomination to those, who have been away from Anglicanism for some time, or for those who are curious about what Anglicanism is in general and what we are in particular.

WHO WE ARE:
We are the Orthodox Anglican Church, the US member of the global Orthodox Anglican Communion, established in the 1960’s as a self-governing Anglican body. We were the first to provide a haven for disillusioned Episcopalians, Anglicans, and all disaffected Christians who seek the OLD PATHS of the Holy Church.

OUR TRADITIONS: ANGLICAN
As Anglicans, we worship God using the traditional 1928 Book of Common Prayer and the Authorized Version of the Bible for worship services. We are led by Bishops who trace their Apostolic Succession through the Apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ and enjoy the same Episcopal Succession as the See of Canterbury, among others.

CATHOLIC / REFORMED / EVANGELICAL:

CATHOLIC: Catholic means "of the whole" or “universal” (not Roman). We hold to the Faith once for all delivered to the saints (Jude 3) "not our own". It is the faith of the ancient creeds, held by all the faithful, at all times, and in all places.

REFORMED:
We are reformed and follow in the tradition of the English Reformation and Cranmer, Bilney, Latimer, Ridley and Hooker . These men mirrored in England, the work of the Continental Reformers; Luther, Bucer, Vermigli, Zwingli, and Calvin. Their intent was to purify the Church of medieval superstitions and return it to the beliefs of the Unified, ancient Church. Anglicanism rejects the abuses and additions of the "divided" church.

EVANGELICAL:
Evangelical means "of the Gospel" or "Good News." Man is redeemed from sin by the saving redemptive acts of Jesus our Christ. Every Christian is obligated to proclaim this Good News in word and action.

OUR BELIEFS: ORTHODOX

ORTHODOX / SACRAMENTAL / LITURGICAL:

ORTHODOX: Although the Church's message is interpreted to each new age, no novel doctrine may be required of the faithful. We are orthodox in all ancient doctrine.

SACRAMENTAL:
We believe that the Sacraments, instituted of Christ, convey grace through the Holy Spirit. As John Calvin said that wherever the Gospel is preached, the sacraments must be administered. They are the spiritual life of the Body. We believe in the genuine spiritual power of the sacraments.

LITURGICAL:
Liturgy means, "work." Our work together in worship is in common. The reformers demanded that the people be continually involved in the worship of the Church. We invite you to be involved! Come worship with us in the historic faith of Jesus Christ as expressed and manifested in the 1928 Book of Common Prayer.

CREEDAL:
We believe and confess the three ancient Creeds of the Church: the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed; as well as the 39 Articles of the Church of England. The Apostles Creed A formula containing the fundamental tenets of Christian belief.

The Nicene Creed The definitive statement of Christian orthodoxy defending both the deity and humanity of Jesus.

The Anthanasian Creed Named after St. Athanasius, who defended the faith against attacks on the doctrine of the Trinity. The 39 Articles of The Church of England: The definitive statement on the doctrine of the Anglican Church..

We believe in the One, Holy, Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved, and that most holy name is Jesus, Lord of heaven and earth. We believe that only through Him is the full revelation of God given to man and that we have the awesome responsibility to reach the Good News of salvation to all nations and tongues.

We believe that the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the authentic record of God's revelation to man and is a revelation valid for all men and all time. In the Bible we have God's revelation of Himself, His saving activity, and moral demands. We believe that all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works [II Tim. 3:16]. It is God’s Word.

We believe in God's gift of the apostolic ministry to His Church, asserting the necessity of a bishop in apostolic succession (or a priest ordained by such) as the celebrant of the Eucharist. Furthermore, we hold that the Holy Orders of Bishops, Priests and Deacons consist exclusively of men in accordance with Christ's Will and institution.

We believe in the sanctity of human life, that life begins at the moment of conception and that the willful taking of that life in the womb by abortion to be a grave sin.

We believe in the family, in the God-given sacramental bond in marriage between one man and one woman. We profess that sexual activity is to be practiced only within the bonds of Holy Matrimony. We stand for biblical faith and morality. Thus, we ordain only Godly men to Holy Orders and affirm that marriage is a sacred bond between a man and a woman.

We believe that man is radically affected by sin in his whole being removed from original righteousness, is in rebellion against God's authority and is liable to His righteous judgment. We believe that all people, individually and collectively, are responsible to their Creator for their acts, motives, thoughts and words, since we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.

We believe it is the duty of the Church and her members to bear witness to Christian Morality, to follow it in their lives, and to reject the false standards of the world. We believe in the necessity of inward spiritual development (Sanctification) and the outward amendment of life of every Christian (Repentance). We believe in the power of God to heal the sick and broken hearted.
The Bishop of this Church is committed to seeing that the Faith of Christ is kept entire as it was given to this Church. Any assertion to the contrary has no basis in fact. We call upon all the communicants of this church to believe without reservation that deposit of Faith that has been given to the Anglican Catholic Church and to earnestly contend for the faith once delivered to the saints [Jude 3].

OUR MISSION: BIBLICAL FAITH AND ANGLICAN PRACTICE

Our purpose is to present our Lord Jesus Christ in Word and Sacrament, and to perpetuate and promote, with the help of Almighty God, the biblical Faith and Anglican doctrine, discipline, and worship as directed by the Book of Common Prayer.

We believe that loyalty to our Lord is expressed by service to our fellowmen.

We do not compromise on matters of Faith and Order, Doctrine, Discipline, or morality.

We don't have all the answers, but we invite your inquiry. May the Lord our God Bless you through His infinite Grace and Mercy.
